Browse Abandon Template
Overview
The Abandoned Browse use case allows you to target website visitors when they stop browsing the website. These visitors will receive a communication encouraging to complete their action by giving them incentives such as extra points, reductions, free delivery, etc. When visitors are browsing, additional information can be sent over about the categories and items they are browsing. This information can then be used in your communications with the customer and for segmentation.
To track what a visitor is doing on your website and detect an abandoned browse, the following events are tracked on your website and sent as a signal to the Moments application. These signals are picked up by the Browse Abandon Moment:
Configure the Browse Abandon Moment
To configure a Browse Abandon Moment, the following properties need to be set.
Settings
Check out the topic on creating a Moment for details on these generic settings.
Moments preferences
Duration
The Duration is the time delay after which the browsing is considered as abandoned and the Moment is triggered, for example after 2 days of inactivity on the browsing.
Re-trigger delay
If you want to trigger the Browse Abandon moment multiple times for the same customer, you can use this option to set the delay before the moment can be triggered again. You can choose from the following values:
- After 1 hour
- After 24 hours
- After 3 days
- After 7 days
- After 14 days
- After 30 days
The default is set to 30 days. If you want to trigger the Moment only once, select No re-entry.
Example: The Duration is set to 1 hour and the Re-trigger delay to 24 hours. This means a Browse Abandon Moment is triggered when a customer stops browsing the website for at least 1 hour.
After this Moment is triggered, a 24-hour re-trigger delay starts. During this period, no new Browse Abandon Moments will be triggered for the same customer—even if they resume browsing and abandon the site again.
Once the 24-hour delay has passed, a new Browse Abandon Moment can be triggered again, provided the customer stops browsing for at least 1 hour.
Number of products
Define the Number of products last browsed that will be available in the Moment. This information can then be used for personalization and segmentation when taking action upon this Moment.
Only unique products will only return unique products. The option is by default disabled.
Number of categories
Select the number of categories last browsed that will be available in the Moment. This information can then be used for personalization and segmentation. A minimum of 1 and maximum of 5 can be set.
Only unique categories will only return unique categories. The option is by default disabled.
App sources other than Moments to trigger the Moment (optional)
Note: The App source field is only displayed when at least one additional source, besides Moments and Signals, is configured for the environment. For example if you have a Loyalty integration, those events can also be used as a source for Interactive Moments to listen to.
The App source field let's you select additional sources for the Moment to listen to, such as Loyalty or Integrations.
Conditions to filter the signals triggering the Moment (optional)
Conditions let you define a filter on the incoming signals for this specific Moment using any attribute of the selected event.
When no condition is defined, all signals are captured.
Details on how to define a filter are available in the article Expression builder.
Note: The list of events that can be used for filtering corresponds to all the events that are available for this specific Moment and that are listed in the info box at the top.
